Buying First Home
We’re working on buying our first house. We’ve already found a house that we really like and have entered contract to buy it, assuming the inspection goes well tomorrow. If it all pans out, we’ll be living in Holliday soon!

Today is Todd Daniel’s birthday! He was born at 1:18pm at United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls. He weighed in at 6lb 9oz and was 19.5 inches long. He was really similar to Russell’s size. Preston and Russell had a good time visiting him in the hospital, and they seemed to be thrilled to get to meet him! Donna was a trooper, and is doing great now.
Thanksgiving is this week. We’ve got a lot of work to do around the house in preparation for Todd Daniel’s birthday. We’ve got his crib, which is much nicer than my bed ;). It’s hard to clean the house up, when right behind you are two little tornadoes that are destroying at a much faster rate than you can clean. Donna has been working very hard to get everything ready for Todd Daniel, but Preston and Russell seem to be out to sabotage her work! We are expecting him to be born within the next couple of weeks. We will still be visiting Mom and Dad in Ardmore for Thanksgiving, so there is the possibility that he could be born in Ardmore! We will see… Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Pretty much all week, little Russell has been sick. He threw up Monday night, and then woke up barking/coughing. I stayed home with him Tuesday, because he was running a fever. He seemed a little better Wednesday morning, but by the evening I noticed that he was coughing *a lot*, and he didn’t have much appetite. Thursday, his fever was back, and worse than ever. It seemed he slept all day. By the evening, he was acting better, and he said he was hungry, though he didn’t eat much. Hopefully, by the end of the weekend he’ll be back to his old ornery self!
It hasn’t started yet, but I’m sure Russell will start asking where Preston is soon. Preston’s staying the week with Papa and Grandma. He gets treated like royalty for a few days, and then they send him home to mean old Mama and Daddy. I actually look forward to being a grandpa! lol
We had a nice trip up to Minnesota. We got there the day before the family reunion, and so we were very busy at the beginning. I was starting to think that we were crazy for coming. However, later on in the week we were able to relax and enjoy our time. Roger, Emmit, Preston, and I all went geocaching on day where we picked up a ton of caches. I even collected geocaching souvenirs from North and South Dakota that day! We are glad to be back home now, though!
We leave Thursday for Minnesota. In the meantime, we’re working on cleaning the house. I don’t want to dread coming home because there’s a huge pile of dirty laundry to do and lots of other things! I’m really looking forward to the trip. It’s been a long time since we all got to go on a “vacation”.
The kids enjoyed the Knights of Columbus’ Enchilada Dinner. Russell pigged out. Preston preferred the cake…
Yesterday we met up with my brother and his wife in Waurika for the 2012 Rattlesnake Hunt. We didn’t actually hunt for snakes (I hate them, personally). It is basically a big street carnival. Preston rode a kiddie-rollercoaster, a merry-go-round, and the ferris wheel. He had a great time with Uncle Ben! He even came home with a giant stuffed monkey, which he’s currently sleeping with!
A few weeks ago Donna and I made the mistake of telling her parents that Russell just lovesthose toy kitchens. They got him one for his birthday; it was a nice-looking blue one. I decided yesterday to get it out of the box and set it up for him in the backyard.
Two hours later, I finally finish putting the horrid thing together. If you’ve ever put together a model car, you’ll have an idea of how this thing worked. It seemed like a thousand tiny pieces all attached to each other by plastic. I had to cut each piece out with wire cutters.
My neck and arms are still sore today…
