The Trip to Michigan Was Amazing!

The Trip to Michigan Was Amazing!

We all had an amazing time on our trip to Michigan!  It was wonderful to be able to see my mom and dad again.  It was also the first time I’d gotten to meet my brother-in-law Chad.  He is a great guy.  Melody is lucky!  Little Grace is very cute, a really sweet girl.  We also got to visit with Uncle Gary and Aunt Lorna, Uncle John, and Uncle Mike and Aunt Ida.

We did tons of exploring, including visiting Tawas Point and its lighthouse, River Road and Lumberman’s Monument, Hartwick Pines, a little zoo (slightly more than a petting zoo!), Sleeping Bear Dunes, and another lighthouse at Point Betsie (near Frankfort).  We got to do a lot, but we also got to relax a lot, so it was really nice.  Plus, we saw the best Fourth of July fireworks I’ve ever seen!  They were amazing!

We’ve been home for a couple of weeks now, and I do miss family.  But it is great to be home, getting back into our routines!

Trip to Michigan

Antique Michigan Map

Next Saturday, June 28th, we will be making a little road trip from Texas up to Michigan to visit my parents.  I’m really excited.  I haven’t been up there in ten years!  I will also get to meet my sister’s husband for the first time and see their new little girl!  As long as the kids don’t drive us crazy, I think it will be a great trip!

Easter!!!

Easter!!!

Easter Sunday and everything leading up to it was wonderful, and exhausting…

Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

We had a total of three Easter Egg hunts that I had to go to.  Preston even had another one that Donna helped with!  The City of Holliday’s hunt was a lot of fun.  The Easter Bunny rode to Stonewall Park inside the Fire Truck, with its sirens blaring!  Russell loved that.  He also gave out free dum-dums, which Russell also loved.  Preston wasn’t too sure about visiting the Bunny, even for free candy, but Russie went with him as moral support.  It was very cute!  Each of the boys hunted in a different ballfield, and so I had to run all over the place in order to get pictures.  I made the mistake of starting in Russie’s field.  I took a couple of pictures and then ran to Preston’s field.  It had nearly been picked clean!  I did get to enjoy watching Preston and a little girl run for the same egg at the same time.  Preston ran a woman over, but the little girl got the egg!  It was absolutely hilarious!

The Church’s Easter Egg Hunt was fun, and the kids found a lot of candy.  We had it all gathered into one bucket, and someone accidentally took it!  Oh well, the kids were going to have more candy than they needed anyway!

Church on Sunday was wonderful.  Since Donna and I are in the choir, we had to be at both the early and late services.  We were both exhausted, but they were beautiful services.  After church, we headed off to Ardmore, where Donna’s mom made a wonderful lunch/dinner.  We weren’t sure if we’d get to hunt eggs or not, but it dried out enough that our final egg hunt was on.  Donna’s sister and her family all came.  It was a ton of fun.  I was certainly glad to get home that evening, though!

It is wonderful to get to celebrate Christ’s resurrection so fully every year.  I think of how exhausted I get, and then I remember that Jesus was certainly tired leading up to the cross, but what joy awaits us in Paradise with Him!  It is all worth it!

Spring is in the Air!

Spring is in the Air!

The trees are budding out.  All except the mesquite, as they normally leaf out later than most.  My allergies are killing me.  Areas nearby have had thunderstorms.  That’s right.  It’s Spring!  Not a lot has happened recently in our family.  Donna and I have been singing in the Church Choir, the boys have been doing well in Sunday School and Preston has been doing well in Kindergarten.

Thanksgiving Feast(s)

Thanksgiving Feast(s)

Bite Me!

Next week it will be Thanksgiving.  Today at work we are having our Thanksgiving lunch.  I had to laugh to Donna last night, because everyone has been inviting me to Thanksgiving feasts!  Preston is having one at school, the other two boys are having one at daycare, Donna invited me to their’s at Notre Dame, I have my work one today, and next week is the “real” one!  I held my belly and asked her “Does it look like I need five Thanksgiving feasts?!?  Maybe I could handle five Thanksgiving snacks, but not feasts!”  I will just be doing my work one and the real one at Donna’s parents’ house.

Long Time, No Posts!

Long Time, No Posts!

I haven’t really done a good job of updating my blog lately… Just lazy, I guess.

Honestly, not much has happened. We’ve all been sick over the last week. Donna’s mom had knee replacement surgery. We visited Marlys in the City, where we saw the tornado damage from last month. We’ve been getting rain the last few days (praise Jesus!). I think that’s about it…

I Need a Weekend to Recover From My Weekend

I Need a Weekend to Recover From My Weekend

This last week has been pretty stressful.  On Wednesday my car decided to start acting wonky.  It has been losing power on acceleration.  I figured it was the spark plugs, so I bought some new ones and changed them out.  Two days later (yes, it took that long, and my hands are cut up too) my car has new spark plugs and wires, and it’s still acting up.

It’s Mother’s Day weekend, so we decide to take my car to Ardmore so that I can put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas and see if that helps out.  So, we get to Ardmore, and Donna’s parents buy us lunch at McDonald’s (McYucky’s as we call it).  Then they want to go to the park with the kids.  I didn’t really want to since my car is acting up, but Donna doesn’t give me any choice.  While at the park, Donna’s mom thinks it will be a good idea to take the kids to the splashpad so they can play in the water.  I tried to sit that one out, but Donna made me go sit with everyone else.  Russell, his usual self, falls down while running and hits his head on the concrete.  It was bad enough that everyone makes us take him to the emergency room.  It was pretty scary, because he was drooling and sedated.  After the doctor sees us, Russell even throws up a couple of times.  They do a CT scan and let us know he’ll be okay, after which Russell finally starts coming to (about two hours after his accident!).

After all that, we go to El Chico to eat, where Russell wolfs down chips and queso.  He had been begging for nachos as soon as we left the hospital.  After barfing it all up though, he seems fairly content not to eat any more.

Sunday, Mother’s Day, was mostly uneventful.  I grilled (burned) hamburger, hotdogs, bratwurst, and shrimp, and we feasted.  Then we packed up and went home.

The car is still acting up…

The New House!

We’ve had the new house for just about two months now.  It’s amazing how quickly I’ve gotten used to living here!  It definitely feels like home now.  I think the kids have gotten used to it now too; they sure have been making messes!  So I guess things are starting to get back to normal.  We’ve had Russell in at the doctor a couple of times.  Once to the urologist in Fort Worth, and once to the speech therapist.  We go back to the urologist tomorrow.  Boy, kids are expensive!  We’re just now getting started paying on the medical bills from Todd Daniel’s birth, and now we’re going to start getting some more for Russell!

Moved In

Moved In

We had lots of help moving most of the stuff from Wichita to Holliday yesterday. We now live in Holliday. There’s still a lot of clutter around the old house that we need to take care of, and then we can clean it up and be done with it. Fun times!

Playing the Waiting Game

Playing the Waiting Game

The inspection went well and the appraisal came back. It is good. Now we’re just waiting to see if we’ll be approved for the loan. Every once in a while my loan officer emails me to ask for more information, so I know everything is still moving, but it sure seems to have slowed down!

Lord, give me patience during this time and in all things may Your will be done! I hope it is Your will for us to get the house, but if it isn’t, please stop it from happening…
