The New Baby is a Boy!
Donna had her ultrasound today. The new baby is a boy! I think his name is going to be Todd Daniel. Now we’ll have three boys running around the house. Exciting! 🙂

We had a nice trip up to Minnesota. We got there the day before the family reunion, and so we were very busy at the beginning. I was starting to think that we were crazy for coming. However, later on in the week we were able to relax and enjoy our time. Roger, Emmit, Preston, and I all went geocaching on day where we picked up a ton of caches. I even collected geocaching souvenirs from North and South Dakota that day! We are glad to be back home now, though!
We leave Thursday for Minnesota. In the meantime, we’re working on cleaning the house. I don’t want to dread coming home because there’s a huge pile of dirty laundry to do and lots of other things! I’m really looking forward to the trip. It’s been a long time since we all got to go on a “vacation”.
Last Wednesday my brother and his wife visited. It had been ages since I had seen Matthew, and I had never met Crystal before. We had a good visit, but they didn’t stay very long. I had to work Thursday, and they left after lunch, so I really only got to spend a few hours with them Wednesday night. If you guys are reading this, we need to visit each other more often!!!
Today is Donna’s and my 7th wedding anniversary. That’s right; we’ve been married seven years! We really don’t have any plans for this evening. Though, Donna’s parents are taking Preston for the week (they were going to anyway, not just because it is our anniversary!). I think Donna is wanting to eat out somewhere or do something like that. Personally, I don’t care for eating out all that much, and I would rather have a meal at home… We will see! I’m sure we’ll end up doing something, but I don’t know what.
The kids enjoyed the Knights of Columbus’ Enchilada Dinner. Russell pigged out. Preston preferred the cake…
Boy the weeks have been going by like crazy! I think that it is kind of scary how fast they go by. When I was working at Lawton, they seemed to just drag on and on. When you don’t care for your job, time seems to slow down… a lot! I am so glad that I now work at Gunn. I just wish I had better health insurance 😛
My mouth is finally feeling better; not quite back to normal, but much better. Preston’s, though, is still bothering him. He had his surgery last Thursday. He didn’t lose any teeth (not the visible ones, anyway!). They extracted the “mean tooth.” It was in between his baby teeth and his permanent ones, coming in kind of sideways… The poor guy has been crying and moaning in his sleep at night the last couple of days. Apparently that is a common reaction to the anesthesia. I feel really bad for him though. I think we’ve been a little too hard on him since the surgery too. He seemed to be doing so well and so we kind of expected him to behave the same way that he had been before the surgery. I think he was just covering up that he didn’t feel that great. We’ll both be better this time next week! (I hope)
Preston has been accepted at Notre Dame Catholic School :). Hopefully we’ll get some kind of financial assistance. We’d applied for a scholarship through the Diocese, but haven’t heard anything yet. I am excited about the possibility of providing Preston a Catholic education, and hope it is not stopped because of finances…
I got this aching pain in my mouth one day, and the next it was this great big sore – I guess it was a cold sore – on my tongue, near the back. It hurt so bad that I couldn’t eat or talk. Pretty much everything I did hurt… So, for a few days I ate only soft foods… and very little. I went to the doctor after a few days of agony. They gave me a cortisone shot and some steroid mouth medicine to take for a few days. The shot made me feel even worse! My arms and legs ached. I couldn’t even get a book off the shelf at the bookstore… It was pathetic, I had to ask Preston for help! I even had to skip choir at church 🙁
Well, it’s been a few days (over a week), and it feels much better. It’s not completely healed, but it is a lot better. A lady at church suggested that the next time I feel one coming on, I should try Lysine. I’ll have to remember that; I wouldn’t wish that pain on my worst enemy!
